If you’re searching for raw, unspoiled Nature in one of Costa Rica’s richest biodiversity zones, then La Bijagua at Drake Bay on the Osa Peninsula is an incredible find. This is amazing property consists of 76 hectares (almost 188 acres) of mostly primary growth forest that is home to a vast number of native plants and wildlife, including puma, Baird’s tapir, peccary, four species of monkeys, sloths, scarlet macaws, toucans, anteaters, and more!

La Bijagua is the only titled property within the Golfo Dulce Forest Reserve at Drake Bay. 80% of the land is covered in huge, lush primary forest and must be preserved. 20% of the land may be developed for residential or commercial use. Creeks, rivers, waterfalls, and springs are located throughout the property.

Approximately 2 miles (3km) of the property perimeter follows a pristine Rio Agujitas, which boasts a stunning 20-meter-high waterfall with multiple swimming areas. The southeast corner of the property has a stunning view of the ocean and jungle below.

La Bijagua is located only 10 minutes driving distance from the tiny town of Drake Bay (pop. ~500) and beach and fronts 440 meters (1443 feet) of public road. Regional airlines provide flights from San José (45 minutes), Liberia, and other regional airports. From Drake Bay Airport, you’re only 30 minutes away from La Bijagua. It’s 1.5 hours by car to the town of Puerto Jimenez. It’s a 7-hour drive to San Jose, and an hour boat ride to Sierpe from Drake Bay. World famous Parque Nacional Corcovado is 45-minutes from Drake Bay by boat and Caño Island Biological Reserve located 50-minutes from Drake Bay by boat. You can be at Drake Bay’s new medical clinic in 20 minutes by car.

The property is isolated and has no real infrastructure. A water concession from the Municipality would need to be obtained and electrical infrastructure installed to reach the ICE (Costa Rican Electricity Institute) electrical grid located 500 meters from the property. There’s plenty of space for a helipad if you want one too!

Only 2000 people populate the surrounding area and there is no major development nearby – just 100% pure Nature! It’s the perfect location for a private reserve, sustainable eco-development, luxury eco-resort, or even a private estate. …Read Less
