Costa Rica is bordered to the north by Nicaragua, and to the northeast by the Caribbean sea. Its Caribbean coast runs for the entire 125 miles of the country between Nicaragua and Panama (its southern neighbor) and consists of the province of Limon, which is one of seven provinces in that country. Puerto Limón, a city of 60,000 people, is the capital of the province. This region of Costa Rica is noted for both its large Afro-Caribbean and indigenous populations. Reggae, calypso, and soca music are popular throughout the region.
