Capital of Costa Rica Takes Home Travel Oscar

During the 2014 World Travel Awards, held in Quito, Ecuador, San Jose was named "Mexico & Central America's Leading Meetings & Conference Destination." The executive director of the Costa Rica Convention Bureau, Pablo Solano, accepted the award. In his acceptance speech, Solano stated that the award is an indication that Costa Rica is raising the bar of excellence in terms of events, conventions, and meetings held in Central America. The World Travel Awards are considered akin to the Oscars in terms of the travel industry by rewarding excellence in travel and tourism around the world. Hotels in Cost Rica swept the awards ceremony in the Mexico & Latin America category, bringing home seven more awards. Solano went on to state the Costa Rica's easy air access, infrastructure, warm hospitality, and world-class lifestyle facilities have been critical to making San Jose a preferred location for events and meetings in the region.
