Nosara is located in the Nicoya Peninsula on Costa Rica’s North Pacific coast in the Guanacaste province. If you’re travelling from San Jose, you can take a flight to the regional airport in Nosara lasting only 45 minutes. Driving will take between 5-6 hours.
Getting to Nosara is a smooth ride for most of the way and there is generally not too much traffic once you leave the greater San Jose metropolitan area. As the Nosara Map shows, you’ll work your way out to Puntarenas via the Caldera Highway (Hwy 27), also known as the “Autopista del Sol” which is a toll road, but well worth it. The highway connects to Highway 1 which is the Pan-American Highway and you can follow the signs from there. One of the highlights is passing over the most impressive bridge in all of Costa Rica called the “Puente La Amistad de Taiwan”.
