The 170 acres of land incorporate so many options. Right now there are four horses and 80 head of cattle on the pasture areas. The Guabo River, which runs beautifully all year, goes right through the property with beautiful cabin sites along it should you want them. There is a road going down to the river and then up, up, up the other side to a high point where you see a whole panorama of valleys, mountains and distant Pacific Ocean.

To get you started, you will have a spacious, open 2-story lodge style home with all of the comforts you’d want. The living/dining/kitchen area on the first floor is large enough to accommodate numerous guests. Built after years of rural experience, the kitchen has two cooking areas—one with an electric stove and the other with a wood burning stove either for trying your country skills or for those times when the power goes off temporarily just as you are preparing meals.

A two – car garage and storage area plus laundry room and guest bedroom complete the first floor. On the second floor there are two en-suite bedrooms, one of which is the master with LOTS of space and light.

The guest house is a large efficiency bedroom/kitchen/bathroom on the edge of the bank above the river. You get jungle views and always the sound of the rapids below.

Other outbuildings include a large covered garden with raised beds, a corral for horses and cattle, a secure storage building for tools and equipment, and woodsheds. There are as many more building sites as you’d like, depending on your purposes for them.

Although the land is hilly, it could easily be used to create hiking trails, horse paths, quad rides, mountain biking runs, hang gliding for beginners, health and fitness retreats, river tubing/rafting (seasonally) and more.

The property is located on a road forming a big “U”, accessible from the San Juan de Dios road coming down from Platanillo or from the road going up from Baru through Lagunas. Either way it takes about 45 minutes to get to the beaches, or less to get to Platanillo’s grocery stores or Tinamaste’s Tuesday farmer’s market.

While the term “Dude Ranch” comes to mind, that is only one way of thinking about it. It has the potential to be developed into an attractive combination of health center, fitness program, adventure destination, family camp, group team building facility, executive retreat and so much more.
