Located adjacent to the Oro Verde Private Biological Reserve, the 7.5 acre property overlooks a lush green forested valley with a partial ocean view to the south, including the Tres Hermanas islands, and to the north a primary forest mountain, the dramatic heights of which become a cloud forest during the green season. At approximately 950’ above sea level, a refreshing ocean/mountain breeze flows throughout the property year round. In recent months the access road up the mountain has been greatly improved, cutting driving time to Uvita to just ten minutes.

The three main structures, completed in 2001, are of solid steel-reinforced concrete construction and provide over 3,000 sq’ of living space, not counting the 12’x36’ second story covered observation deck of the main building. All ceilings, including the observation deck, are finished with beautiful masicarán wood paneling. All buildings are serviced by fresh spring water that flows downhill by gravity from a holding tank.

The 2,160 sq' main house is one-story and has two bedrooms and two full bathrooms, a large great room/kitchen, a safe room that doubles as closet and storage room, and a separate laundry room and storage room. A four-foot overhang extends around the building in addition to a 12’x36’ patio and second story covered observation deck of the same size. A dormer roof contributes to the air flow through the building and all rooms also have ceiling fans.

The one-bedroom, 335 sq' pool guest house, located 80 meters below the main house, sleeps four, and also has a full bathroom and a swimming pool (one-third covered), and outdoor bar.

The 520 sq' bunkhouse, located 30 meters to the east of the main house, sleeps six and also has a full bathroom, and is located over a large two-car garage.

There are three streams on the property and two of them can be heard running to the east and west of the buildings, sometimes accompanied by the ocean surf.

The buildings were designed for comfortable nature observation in all directions, and the wildlife—especially the hundreds of species of birds that can be seen here—is abundant. Howler monkeys will awaken you each morning at dawn often followed by the chattering of white-faced Capuchin monkeys and less often, a spider monkey or two.
White-nosed coatis, two- and three-toed sloths, tayras, raccoons, Virginia opossums, variegated squirrels, silky and collared anteaters, pacas and white-lipped peccaries also roam the property—at a comfortably safe distance.

Although the Oro Verde Nature Estate has never been rented out, it is perfectly suited for a nature lovers' bed and breakfast. Professionally guided birding groups have found the main house "mirador" to be one of the richest observation spots in all of Costa Rica.

The property is privately owned by an American couple through a Costa Rican corporation. For the past nine years they have employed two local residents to care for the place, inside and out.
