Caleta Cove

The truly majestic, tropical rainforest and beach area of " Caletas " is located in one of the last pristine areas left in the world. The biodiversity of the Osa Pennisula and Corcovado National Park is like no other place on earth and is a habitat to over 400 species of birds, 500 species of trees, 150 mammals, endless numbers of fresh and salt water fish and amphibians! Caletas Cove is a remote beach located between the small town of Drake Bay and the Corcovado National Park along a stretch of coast known as Caletas. The cove is accessible by boat only a short 5 minute boat ride from the town of Drake Bay, There are no roads! The beach is protected by a large volcanic rock outcropping on the west side. It helps to block the the ocean swells which keep the cove calm and allows for easy boat landing on the beach as well as fantastic snorkeling. Caletas Cove is also the perfect spot for your own private boat to be moored. The property has some semi cleared areas on small hill tops that would be perfect for construction. Surrounded by thick rain forest on three sides with more clearing in the direction of the ocean. The property lies 200 ft above sea level and approx. 300 yards from the beach. On the beach is a new resort hotel named the " Treetop Resort " which is currently under construction and scheduled to open November 2010. Treetop Resort will have a swimming pool , 10 luxury ranchos and a two story, restaurant / bar that will be open to the public.They will also offer all day trips and activities to Corcovado and Isla Cano National Parks, sport fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, canopy, kayaking along with dolphin and whale watching. The small town of Drake Bay is about 5 minutes away from Caletas Cove by boat. In town there is an airport with multiple daily flight's serviced by Nature and Sansa Airlines year round. Drake Bay is also accessible by car. Boat access from the small river town of Sierpe is also available twice daily. From Sierpe you travel out through an estuary and the Sierpe river mouth which makes for an adventure in itself. Cano Island National Park is a short boat ride away with world class scuba diving and snorkeling as well as dolphin and whale watching. Also nearby is Isla Violnes surrounded by a seemingly endless mangrove estuary and the Sierpe river mouth.
