Costa Rica’s northernmost province of Limón, which stretches from that country’s northern border with Nicaragua to its southern border with Panama, also borders the Caribbean Sea. The province, one of seven in Costa Rica, is quite large, and in addition is the country’s most culturally diverse province, as there is a significant population of Afro-Caribbeans here, as well as an indigenous population in addition to Costa Ricans. The province is notable for its banana production, and also for its tourism. The port city of Limón (capital of the province of the same name) is a regular stop for several cruise lines, for example. People who choose to purchase these Caribbean homes when they wish to retire to the more laid back country of Costa Rica can enjoy these attractions and much more throughout the country. Costa Rica is noted for its biodiversity and the province of Limón incorporates rain forests, mangrove forests, beaches and lagoons. It’s important to note that it does rain a lot throughout the province! However, tourists still love this area because of the great natural wonders on display.
