Caribbean Costa Rica Rentals

Costa Rica consists of seven provinces. Six of those seven provinces share a similar history. The seventh, the northern province of Limón, has a rather unique history, and today is a rather unique province. This province shares a 125-mile coastline with the Caribbean Sea, for one thing, and so water sports along the coast are very popular. While the rest of Costa Rica was colonized by the Spanish in the 1700s, the province now known as Limón was first colonized by the English. In the 1800s, Africans and inhabitants of the other Caribbean islands emigrated here to work on the banana plantations and in constructing a railroad from San José to the port of Limón. Their descendants today, Afro-Carribeans, give this region a flavor and a laid-back vibe that is all its own. Rentals in Caribbean Costa Rica are available for anyone who wants to come to this region to try a bit of calypso and reggae music, or indulge in the traditional Caribbean cuisine, so different from that of the rest of the country.

Rentals in Caribbean Costa Rica

Take a look at the province of Limón on a map. Be sure to choose a map that highlights its many popular tourist locations! To the far north, just below the border with Nicaragua, is the Barra del Colorado which offers sport fishing and wildlife and bird watching. People interested in watching turtles visit their nesting grounds – and who isn’t – will want to visit the Tortuguero National Park. Off shore is more sport fishing, and wildlife and birds can be spotted in abundance. There is canoeing on the River Pacuare. Further south, near the border with Panama, is Cahuita National Park – which also offers great surfing offshore, and the Gandoca-Manzanillo Refuge, with scuba diving and snorkeling, wildlife and bird watching. And even turtle watching. So it’s no wonder that there are plenty of Caribbean rentals in this coastal region for people who want to bask in all of this natural glory.
