The South Pacific area of the country is often referred to as where the “mountains meet the sea.” At Cacao Ridge Estates, you’ll enjoy stunning ocean views from a breezy altitude of 1,100 feet above sea level. The pristine mountain and ocean view rival settings such as Bali and California. Our house is located off the beaten path, allowing you to experience your own private paradise while still being only 15 minutes away from the famous surfer’s Dominical Beach.

The space
Welcome to Lija Rising.

Lija Rising is a beautiful bungalow style home with a modern and cozy interior design, completed in 2019. It is easily accessible, all rooms are on one floor, only 5 KM (3.5 miles) off the main mountain road, very private and quiet, with soft sounds of the ocean and surrounding rivers to relax you while lounging next to the infinity pool. You can feel the fresh mountain air and bright sunshine from every room of this home, but especially from the outdoor patio and the infinity pool. As soon as you enter the home, you can see dramatic ocean views for miles. If you hear a large wave, it is because the sound is magnified, almost as if by a microphone.

The modern design of this home delivers both privacy and openness. The solid concrete walls are accented with gorgeous teak wood. Large glass windows either face the ocean or the lush rainforest jungle.

The entertaining spaces feature an eat-in kitchen with new stainless steel appliances and a spacious living room. The magnificent windows in the living area can completely disappear, opening it to your outdoor patio and infinity pool. Our home features three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Three of the bedrooms have ocean views and rainforest jungle views as well, two of the master bedrooms come with en-suite bathrooms. The other bathroom comfortably services guests and the other bedroom and the office.

The home has three well-separated private bedrooms, each including a spacious bathroom, walk-in closets with built in shelves, air conditioning, fans and private outdoor space. All 3 rooms have spectacular ocean and sunset views. Each bathroom comes equipped with a hair dryer, towels, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel.

The home boasts newly-installed fiber Internet with ~100Mb download speeds! (So if you have to work, bring your laptop and you're all set...if you don't, bring your tablet and you can watch some serious Netflix and chill). Not that you'll want to...you'll probably spend all your time in the pool, by our small creek or somewhere else on the wide-spanning property!

Sustainable Living
The house runs on solar and grid electricity, to avoid any power outages and to propel self-sufficient living. Many local tropical plants are spread throughout making it feel like a lush jungle. This 4 bedroom house also serves as a small sustainable farm. Coming with an outdoor vegetable garden, an exotic fruit orchard, a fishing pond, an herb garden, and a chicken coop. This area used to be a Cacao Plantation so the ground is fertile, and it is ideal for organic produce or a perennial garden. A natural creek runs through the lot too.
The pool runs on saltwater.

Guest access
You will have full access to the home and a spacious covered carport for two vehicles, incl. a large storage locker for beach and pool toys, and a covered deck.You can access the property via a 2-wheel drive vehicle, although if you like to do off-road adventures on your trip and in case you wanna use the beach road you may want to consider a 4-wheel drive.

Other things to note
The home offers a laundry room off the kitchen, with full-sized washer and dryer, laundry sink, laundry detergent, and plenty of room for storage.

Near Where You Want to Be
Cacao Ridge Estates is secluded, you’ll never hear the sound of an engine on a highway but is still only about 10 minutes away from the supermarket in neighboring Platanillo. The beach at Playa Dominical, where experienced surfers like to ride the waves, is only 15-20 minutes away, bustling with a choice of fine yet informal restaurants and shops, including Mama Toucans, which resembles a small Whole Foods. On the way, you’ll pass Nauyaca Water Falls, which is located in an 80-meter canyon. It contains flowing waterfalls and swimming holes the entire family will love exploring. You’re also only minutes away from other Costa Rica waterfalls, such as Eco Chontales, which features stunning views, natural swimming holes, and local wildlife.
Notably, our home is just 15 minutes away from the second largest organic market in Costa Rica. Located in Tinamastes, more than 40 community vendors offer their natural food, remedies, and crafts each Tuesday.
