Heredia, capital of Heredia province, is a prosperous city, ideally situated in the verdant foothills of a dormant volcano, this fortuitious lcoation gives the inhabitants beautiful views of the Central Valley below. Heredia has plenty of public transportation, both within the city and to neighboring towns and cities including Costa Rica’s capital, San Josè, which is only 11 miles south of Heredia. Its roads through the mountains are rather narrow and winding, but well maintained. Heredia is a modern city, with some 50,000 inhabitants, which swells during the school year as this city is a destination for thousands of people every year who wish to perfect their Spanish. Heredia is home to the National University of Costa Rica, which averages 12,000 students a year. The university offers undergraduate programs, of course, but also sixteen Masters of Art degrees. Because Heredia is a “university town,” it has a fresh and friendly atmosphere. The city however is much more laid back than nearby San Josè,and also has much less pollution . Luxury real estate in Heredia Costa Rica consists of large homes situated in the foothills, with fantastic views of the surrounding area. Restaurants catering to all tastes abound, and Heredia also offers shopping malls and a hospital. Inhabitants of the city can stroll among the mango trees in the Central Park. Heredia’s still extant colonial buildings make a pleasant backdrop.
Costa Rica is very proud of its coffee exports, and the province of Heredia is practically given over to coffee production. Inhabitants of Heredia can visit nearby coffee plantations, if they wish, and see how their daily beverage is made ready for the table. Volcano enthusiasts can visit several nearby volcanoes (not a ll of them dormant, but none of them in danger of erupting any time soon!) Heredia luxury is easy to find in this prosperous, friendly and peaceful city, and there is plenty to do not only in the city but in nearby national parks.
