Golfito Costa Rica Map

Golfito is a town situated on the southern tip of Costa Rica, quite near the border with Panama. It is located on the north side of the Golfo Dulce (Sweet Gulf). Golfo Dulce is actually a fjord – one of only three tropical fjords in the world. Within Golfo Dulce, as a map of Golfito Costa Rica will show you, there is dolphin and humpback whale watching, kayaking, surfing, and of course, sport fishing. Indeed, sport fishing is the main tourist draw here – with sports men and women coming here to try to hook amberjack, marlin, sailfish and tuna, to name just a few species. Golfito is on the Costa Rican mainland. Separated from it by the Golfo Dulce is the Peninsula de Osa, which is home to Corcovado National Park.

Map of Golfito Costa Rica

Corcovado National Park is actually the largest national park in Costa Rica. It is also the most remote park – only accessibly by air or water taxi. It has the largest remaining virgin (meaning never clear-cut and replanted) lowland rain forest in Central America. As a matter of fact, Corcovado has some of the biggest trees in Central America, standing well over 200 feet tall. Many species of monkeys can be seen here, as well as wild pigs, poison-dart frogs, and scarlet macaws. Sightings of jaguars or tapirs are possible, but very rare. AGolfito map will help you to orientate yourself to locate the park, which is actually on thr southern edge of the peninsula, rather than facing Golfo Dulce.
