About Arenal

Costa Rica has five active volcanoes, and one of the most spectacular was Arenal. Tourists used to come from all over the world to see this volcano and its surrounding beauties. Although the area surrounding Arenal is fully equipped to handle these tourists, the roads from San José (Costa Rica’s capital) need to be driven with care, since potholes are the norm. Arenal also has a rainy season from May to November, and this can sometimes wreath the volcano in fog, so tourists should plan to spend a couple of days there, at least. This is no hardship as there is so much to do in the area. Condos for sale in Arenal Costa Rica are typically to be found in La Fortuna, the closest city to the volcano. The old town of Arenal was flooded in the 1960s for the construction of Lake Arenal, but a new town was founded – Nuevo Arenal.
