Imagine being able to glance out your bedroom or living room window and being able to see belching smoke from a volcano. This is what you can do if you want to take up residence in one of the nearby towns surrounding the cone-shaped volcano. Costa Rica is one of the more prosperous countries in Latin America and the larger towns in this area are possessed of all the modern conveniences that people these days expect – restaurants, movie theatres, libraries, and of course hospitals. Homes for sale in Arenal Costa Rica are quite popular these days, just because they are under the shadow of the volcano, but of course that is not their only attraction. From this vantage point one could easily go windsurfing on every day when the wind cooperates – which is usually every day during the rainy season. Zipline tours of the rainforests are also extremely popular.
Costa Rica is a small country, and its capital, San José, is located pretty much in its center. Immigrants to the country – retirees from around the world or people who just want to take up residence in this beautiful country – can drive to most places in a few hours, and fly into those that are too remote. Arenal is about a two hour drive, northwest of the capital city, on roads that can be a bit bumpy at times during pothole season – although as tourism continues to increase the Costa Rican coffers the roads may be repaired a bit quicker. The road situation to Arenal has to be regarded as a minor inconvenience, though, considering what lies on the other end. Arenal homes, situated in cities near some of the most spectacular scenery in the country, are worth it.
